Best players of Nazionale A round 10
Former international forward Andrea Benevelli (202-F-85) had an amazing evening in the last round for Orlandina and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Nazionale A Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 26-year old forward had a double-double of 13 points and twelve rebounds, while his team beat Napoli (#1, 8-2) 69-61. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Orlandina maintains the 3rd position in Nazionale A. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Orlandina will need more victories to improve their 6-4 record. Benevelli turned to be Orlandina's top player in his first season with the team. Benevelli has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 15.7ppg), rebounds (4th best: 8.9rpg) and averages solid 1.1bpg,2.6spg and 56.6% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 32-year old guard Matteo Bertolazzi (181-G-79) of league's best team Omegna. Bertolazzi impressed basketball fans with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course Omegna cruised to a 80-71 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Trento (#3, 5-5). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Omegna consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team belongs to top of the standings with 9-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Bertolazzi is a newcomer at Omegna and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
The third best performed player last round was former international guard Marco Evangelisti (198-G-84) of second-ranked Recanati. Evangelisti scored 25 points. He was a key player of Recanati, leading his team to a 67-63 win against the lower-ranked Fabriano (#6, 1-9). Recanati needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 4 lost games. Evangelisti has a great season in Italy. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.3ppg (best scorer).
Other top performing players last week:
4. Andrea Raschi (200-G/F-79) of Chieti - 11 points and 11 rebounds
5. Cristiano Masper (208-F-73) of Torino - 19 points and 5 rebounds
6. Daniele Casadei (199-F/G-81) of Omegna - 21 points and 4 rebounds
7. Marco Portannese (192-G-89) of Torino - 16 points and 12 rebounds
8. Antonio Ruggiero (190-G-81) of Bari - 24 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Bernardo Musso (192-G-86) of Napoli - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Amedeo Tessitori (203-C-94) of Comsum.it SI - 15 points and 14 rebounds
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Siena wins Italy Super Cup: the dynasty goes on
Montepaschi Siena defeated 73-70 Bennet Cantu yesterday night in Forl claiminig the Italian Super Cup 2011 and opening the new basketball season exactly as it had ended: winning. But the game was led in the score by Bennet Cantu for 38 minutes, and Siena took the game thanks to a tough defense and the typical winning mentality and experience of its veteran players. With 25 ponts and 8 rebounds, Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-C-79) outstood as the game MVP, Bo McCalebb (183-PG-85, college: New Orleans) added 13 pts and 5 assists and Rimantas Kaukenas (193-G-77, college: Seton Hall) 10 pts and 2 assists at the winning side. Vladimir Micov (203-F-85, agency: Beo Basket) led Cantu with 13 pts and 2 assists, Marko Scekic (207-F/C-81, agency: Beo Basket) scored he too 13 pts, addind 7 rebs at the losing side.
For sure, the losers had their 'moral win' and the congratulations of most of the observers. But 'at this point, insn' a technical problem' as stated Cantu coach Andrea Trinchieri at the press conference after the game. The Bennet Cantu players probably remembered during the last minutes that 'last season we won 7 of the 8 games we played' as declared Montepaschi coach Simone Pianigiani after the game. And some decisive mistakes made by Cantu players in the last quarter show that the Siena dynasty can go on for anothers season.

Kobe Bryant (6'6''-G-78) has been offered $800,000 per game before taxes, or about $600,000 net, to play for Virtus Bologna, the Italian clubs owner, Claudio Sabatini said, per a report on Italian-language site Bologna Basket. The offer is through Nov. 13 and for home games only. Bologna has three home games scheduled through that date.
Bryant is slated to make $25,244,000 with the Lakers next season, according to Hoopshype, which works out to $307,854 per game over an 82-game regular season.
Sabatini has previously stated that hes pursuing Bryant, but there was no indication as to the specific amount of money he was willing to pay in order to sign him.
Sabatini did say he was looking into insurance against potential injury to Bryant, and that if an away opponent is not willing to share the cost of the insurance, he would not allow Bryant to play in those road games.
'I am studying a new solution to pay his insurance game-by-game', he said. 'When we play away, if our opponent is not willing to share the (cost for) the game, I won't pay the insurance for the player and I will keep him in Bologna.'
'Spurs guard Manu Ginobili is also on Virtus Bologna's wish list', Sabatini has said.
